Conference Snapshots

The 2010 York Regional Conference started off with successful bang at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center.

The 2010 York Regional Conference was brought to order by Director Sabrina Carnesi.

130 school and public librarians were in attendance.

Our VEMA President Elect and 2010 State Conference, Mary Keeling, delivered the welcome address for VEMA President, Charlie Makela.

Our Regional Librarian of the Year, Christine Woods of Kecoughtan HS in Hampton, was announced by Director Elect Beth Lee.

In Christine's acceptance speech, she encouraged all librarians to become actively involved in VEMA, and said they all qualify to be Regional Librarian of the Year.

Christine's presentation, “Wonderful, Wonderful Weebly,” immediately followed the Opening Session and was well attended

Another popular session was the “School / Public library Collaboration” presentation presented by the Virginia Beach Public Librarians.

...as well as popular vendor presentations such as “Make Curriculum Connections with ProQuest.”

Attendees enjoyed chatting with vendors…

browsing the 18 vendor tables

... stopping to network between sessions

... and catching up with old friends

Phyllis Hailslip’s keynote address, “Writers on Writing” was presented in the Lecture Hall.

After a quick lunch, Phyllis was able to have an author signing in the main lobbey.

At lunch, many participants took advantage of the beautiful 80 degree weather and ate outside

At the closing session attendees turned in their nametags so as to have a chance at winning one of the many door prizes.

Next year our Director will be Beth Lee and our Director Elect will be Kathie Tomaino. With the excitement generated from this year's conference, next year's will be even bigger and better.
